2nd ODI: MS Dhoni, Kohli get huge ovation in Cuttack

Cuttack : They had waited since Wednesday morning, in various colours and apparels, some of them had even painted themselves with colours of the Indian flag. And when the Indian team arrived at a city hotel in the afternoon there joy knew bounds. Chants of ‘Kohli, Kohli’ and ‘Dhoni Dhoni’ filled the air as the Indian players walked into the hotel on their arrival from Pune.

Yes, the England stars were also welcomed, but in a much muted manner. “See, see there is (Joe) Root,” gushed a young girl, visibly excited at seeing the England star. But overall, as expected, the claps and wild screaming of the fans were reserved for Dhoni, Kohli and to a certain extent for Yuvraj Singh. 

With no one allowed inside the hotel premises, the players reached the hotel without any trouble.

Few of the fans also shared their feelings. “I’m a big fan of Dhoni. I wish just to have a glimpse of him,” said a fan before the teams’ arrival.

“I can’t watch them play in the stadium as I could not get a ticket. So I’m here to cheer and see the players. It is a wonderful feeling out here with the huge number of crowd cheering for team India,” another ecstatic fan said.
