Ashwin becomes fastest to take 25 five-wicket hauls

Bengaluru : It was Ravichandran Ashwin and India’s day at Bangalore as Indian created havoc to maul Australia for just 112 runs in the second innings to level the series 1-1.

The world’s No. 1 bowler, broke several records as Ravichandran Ashwin became the fifth highest wicket taker for India in Tests when he bowled Mitchell Starc. It was Ravichandran Ashwin’s 267th wicket in 88 innings of 47 Tests.

With 619 wickets, Anil Kumble holds the record of taking the highest number of wickets for India. Kapil Dev with 434 wickets while Harbhajan Singh is third with 417 wickets and Zaheer Khan with 311 wickets is fourth on the list.

The 30-year-old Ashwin, also completed 200 wickets in home Tests in his 30th Test, quickest among the four India bowlers to do so. Among India bowlers, Kumble took 86 matches and Harbhajan Singh took 93 matches to do the same. Ashwin is overall the 11th bowler to have 25 or more five-wicket hauls.
