New Delhi : India registered second loss in Super 4, diminishing their chances of reaching the semi-finals of the Asia Cup 2022. Sri Lanka handed India a defeat in the game by 6 wickets.

Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bowl first. The Sri Lankan bowlers struck quick 2 wickets of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli; but then Rohit Sharma took the battle in his hands and played a brilliant knock of 72 runs to give India a stable grip in the game.

Towards the end, Indian team lost their wickets in a quick succession and managed to score 173 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Apart from Rohit Sharma, only Suryakumar Yadav contributed some runs to maintain a competitive total.

Dilshan Madushanka took maximum 3 wickets, C Karunaratne and Shanaka took 2 wickets each.

Talking about Sri Lankan side, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis gave their team the desired start and scored 52 and 57 respectively. Yuzvendra Chahal was the only bowler for India who could manage to give India some important breakthroughs. 

But, at the end the total runs fell a little short and India had to face the defeat in the game by 6 runs.
