New Delhi : To avoid tragic incidents like stampede at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, that hosted victory march of RCB, Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced to make a new policy to avoid any such accident in future. 11 people had lost their lives in the incident. 

3-member panel has been formed which will soon form guidelines in this matter. This decision was taken in the BCCI Apex Council meeting held on Saturday.

At its Apex Council meeting on Saturday, BCCI addressed several key matters, with the spotlight firmly on the recent Bengaluru tragedy. In a statement released after the meeting, the board first expressed deep sorrow over the Bengaluru stampede and the Ahmedabad plane crash. Recognizing the gravity of these incidents, the BCCI announced the formation of a committee comprising senior officials. The committee’s mandate is to investigate the Bengaluru incident and implement safeguards to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Report to Be Submitted Within 15 Days

In its official statement, BCCI announced the formation of a three-member committee tasked with drafting comprehensive safety guidelines for future public celebrations and events. The committee will be led by Board Secretary Devjit Saikia, with BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla and Treasurer Prabhtej Singh also serving on the panel. These three occupy some of the highest-ranking positions within the board, underscoring the seriousness of the initiative. The BCCI has mandated that the committee submit its detailed report and recommendations within 15 days.

Tragedy Struck After RCB’s Historic Win

The incident occurred following Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s historic victory in the IPL 2025 final on June 3, where they clinched their first-ever title by defeating the Punjab Kings. The win sparked citywide celebrations, with jubilant fans flooding the streets of Bengaluru. On June 4, when the RCB team returned home, they were greeted by massive crowds lining the roads. After attending a felicitation ceremony hosted by the Karnataka government at Vidhan Soudha, the team proceeded to the Chinnaswamy Stadium. By then, lakhs of fans had already gathered in the surrounding areas, creating a chaotic and overwhelming situation that led to the tragic stampede.
