New Delhi : In a big blow to Pakistan, Mohammad Wasim has been ruled out for a couple of starting games in the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 which is slated to start on August 27. He has picked up a side strain injury. According to a news report, he will stay out from the playing squad for at least three weeks.

Hasan Ali will be brought back into the squad to replace Wasim.

What Happened?

Wasim complained of back pain while doing the net practice in UAE. He was then taken to a medical speciality for MRI scan. In the PCB health bulletin, it was announced that he has picked up a side strain and will need at least three weeks of rest to completely recover.

Who will replace Wasim? 

Hasan was dropped from Pakistan's squad for the ODI series in the Netherlands as well as for the Asia Cup following a poor run of form with the ball. Meanwhile, the PCB has said that Hasan has opted as a replacement for Wasim in the Pakistani squad.

The Asia Cup 2022 is officially starting on August 27, 2022; but the thriller match between India and Pakistan will be seen on August 28, 2022.
