Charulata Patel, famous as Cricket dadi, passes away at 87

New Delhi : Charulata Patel, one of the oldest fans of Team India, passed away at the age of 87 on January 13.  She had become popular as she was clicked cheering several times for Team India during the World Cup 2019.

He Instagram account with the handle name 'cricket.daadi' confirmed the news of her sad dismissal.

"It is with a heavy heart that I inform you, our beautiful grandmother took her final breath on 13/01 at 5.30pm. She was such a sweet little lady, it's true 'small things come in small packages' our Dadi was a delight, she was/is truly extraordinary. She was our world. I want to thank you all for making her feel special last year, she loved the attention. A big thank you to @virat.kohli you made her feel extra special, meeting you and @rohitsharma45 was the best day of her life (she told us this on multiple occasions). May Lord Shiva bless her atman always, please all say a prayer," the cricket.daadi post read.

The Indian cricket body BCCI also paid a rich tribute to her. "#TeamIndia's Superfan Charulata Patel ji will always remain in our hearts and her passion for the game will keep motivating us. May her soul rest in peace," the BCCI posted.



She had received attention on the social media when she was seen cheering for Virat Kohli's team with a horn and tri-colour painted on her face.



Captain Virat Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma even met her after the game and took her blessings. She was even interviewed by the host broadcasters during the match during which she had said, "I love this Indian team and all the players are like my kids."
