Nagpur : Indian all-rounder Vijay Shankar bowled a magnificent over against Australia in the second ODI, he defended 11 runs in the last over to give hosts a memorable win by 8 runs. This was India's 500th ODI win.

Australia needed 11 runs in the last over when Shankar took the charge and gave only 2 runs, also picking up 2 wickets to wrap Australia's innings.

Batting first, India scored 250 runs with the help of skipper Virat Kohli's 40th ton. The hosts now lead the series 2-0.

Chasing the total, Australia started off well and lost no wicket till 83 runs; from here Indian spinners turned things around. Kuldeep Yadav drew first blood when he trapped Finch LBW for 37 in the 15th over of the innings. Exactly six balls later and without a run being added, Kedar Jadhav snared Khawaja as Australia slipped to 83 for 2.

India and Australia will now face each other for the third ODI on Friday in Ranchi. It will be a must-win match for Men in Yellow to keep hopes in the ongoing five-match ODI series.
