India vs New Zealand First T20: India registers six-wicket win over New Zealand

New Delhi : Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer enhanced his reputation of a good finisher after he smashed 58 runs in just 28 balls to take India to six-wicket win over the hosts in Wellington.

Built on brilliant batting performances by Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli; Team India chased down 204-run target in 19 overs.

Considering the dimensions of the Eden Park, Indian bowlers must also get the credit to restrict New Zealand team to 203-5 in designated 20 overs.

India, however, lost Rohit Sharma early in the second over, but post that everything went in control. With a brilliant partnership of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul the men in blue reached 100-run mark in 9 overs with an ease.

New Zealand, on the other hand, played their best in the opening overs and scored their highest ever against India 68 runs in the first powerplay.

Shardul Thakur (1-44) and Mohammed Shami (0-53) proved to be expensive in the opening spells and India was forced to use as many as six bowlers in the first eight overs.

In a worry for India, Bumrah rolled over his ankle in the 20th over and was seen in deep pain. But, he recovered sufficiently to deliver the last four deliveries. It is not known if he play the next T20.
