Injured Bhuvneshwar Kumar ruled out of India vs West Indies ODI series

New Delhi : Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against West Indies after he suffered an injury. It is likely that Mumbai pacer Shardul Thakur will be replacing him in the playing squad.

"Bhuvneshwar has been ruled out of the series and Shardul will be replacing him," a senior BCCI functionary privy to the development told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

This should be noted that B Kumar has been suffering from injuries since IPL 2018. He had to miss games in the said season with a back injury.

Bhuvneshwar also struggled with hamstring injuries at World Cup 2019 as well. Notably, the India pacer walked off midway during the high-profile encounter against Pakistan in Manchester.

While he was also ruled out of the recently concluded home series against South Africa and Bangladesh, the pacer did manage to get a place in the T20I series against West Indies.

Talking about his recent injury, the India's bowling coach Bharat Arun said the physios were assessing the pacer's injury.

"The physios are taking a call. They would give a press release later in the evening after the assessments," Bharat Arun had said on Friday.

Shardul Thakur has not played for India since the Asia Cup in 2018. With Navdeep Saini reportedly not being ready after return from injury, Team India has opted to hand a call-up to Shardul.
