Jasprit Bumrah likely to miss ICC Champions Trophy, undergoes scans at NCA

New Delhi : Jasprit Bumrah has been on the sidelines since the last Test match played against Australia last month, when he had experienced back spasms. In a recent development, the cricketer has gone under fresh scans to get the latest update on the recovery. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir will now be eagerly anticipating for the positive results to take a call on Bumrah for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy.
According to a media report, the results for the scans will be out within next 24 hours after which a decision will be taken by BCCI on his selection. Meanwhile, the report of the scans will also be shared with Dr. Rowan Schouten, a New Zealand orthopedic surgeon, who had performed surgery on Jasprit Bumrah in 2023.
After facing troubles during the fifth Test match against Australia last month, Jasprit Bumrah was not included in the playing squad for the ongoing ODI series against England. Also, it is expected that he may get a chance to play in the third ODI depending upon his reports and fitness check.
During a press conference after first ODI, skipper Rohit Sharma had said that we are waiting for the scans to be done post which we will be in a position to answer over the dates when Jasprit Bumrah could make a return in the team.
Bumrah is included in India’s team for the Champions Trophy, with the final squad submission deadline set for February 12. India will begin their tournament on February 20 against Bangladesh in Dubai.
Other than Bumrah, Virat Kohli is also dealing with his knee problem these days due to which he was unavailable for the first ODI against England.
