Mahendra Singh Dhoni has played his last game for India, says Ashish Nehra
New Delhi : Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his future in cricket has been a big question since the time he was last seen playing in the World Cup. He was supposed to make a comeback on the field with Indian Premier League but the event got delayed due to coronavirus pandemic.
While no official comment has come from MS Dhoni over his retirement, former India fast bowler Ashish Nehra has claimed that he has already played his last game for India and he does not see Mahendra Singh Dhoni donning the blue jersey again.
Ashish Nehra claimed that his retirement is a hot topic only for the fact that he has not officially announced his retirement.
Nehra also added that irrespective of his form in the Indian Premier League (IPL), if Dhoni makes himself available for the Indian team, then he will be the first pick on his teamsheet.
"As much as I know MS Dhoni, he has played his last game for India happily. MS Dhoni has nothing to prove and we, in the media, discuss all these things because he hasn't announced his retirement. Only he can tell what's in his head," said Nehra, on Star Sport show 'Cricket Connected'.
"See as far as MS Dhoni's international career is concerned, I don't think this IPL has anything to do with it. If you are a captain, a selector or a coach and if MS Dhoni is ready to play, he will be my number one name on the list," he added.
