New Delhi : Former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid has agreed to take up the coach seat of Indian team after completion of T20 World Cup. Ravi Shashtri will be stepping down from the post after a long spell of four years.

The Great Wall of India who is currently the head of National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru has been charge of the India A and U-19 team and have even marshalled the U-19 boys to a world cup win in 2018.

News agency PTI quoted a BCCI official as confirming the development on the condition of anonymity.

“Yes, Rahul has agreed to coach the Indian team till 2023 World Cup. Initially, he was reluctant but it is understood that president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah had a meeting with Rahul on the sidelines of the IPL final where they were able to convince him,” the official told PTI.

Earlier, it was reported that Rahul Dravid had agreed to become the interim coach for team India. The official has brushed aside all rumours and have assured that he’ll be on full-time charge.

“It won’t be an interim role,” he clarified.
