Ravi Shastri appointed as Team India 'head coach'
New Delhi : Speculations come to rest with Ravi Shastri being appointed as Team India 'head coach' till 2019 World Cup. The Cricket Committee announced his name on Tuesday after the BCCI Committee of Administrators directed the committee to consult Virat Kohli and declare the name at their earliest.
The Cricket Advisory Committee — comprising of Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman - took interviews of five candidates before consulting Virat Kohli for the final name.
The five candidates who were interviewed on Tuesday are Shastri, Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Richard Pybus and Lalchand Rajput. Former West Indies coach Phil Simmons wasn’t available for the interview process.
Anil Kumble had resigned from the post after completion of Champions Trophy this year. It is believed that he did not reapplied for the post due to some tiff with current Indian skipper Virat Kohli.
