Rohit Sharma injured during training session, may not play for Mumbai Indians

Mumbai : In a major blow for Mumbai Indians and ICC World Cup 2019 Indian squad, Rohit Sharma has sustained serious injuries during a training session at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.

After a long net practice, the Mumbai Indians skipper practicing on the outfield, but suddenly he collapsed on ground grabbing his right thigh.

Grimacing in pain, Rohit lay prone for quite a while as he was surrounded by members of the Mumbai Indians support staff.

Helped by team physio Nitin Patel, he picked himself up and hobbled around the boundary rope, making a slow, painful walk to the dressing room. With him taking rest several times while walking down to the dressing room, it appears that the injury could be serious.

There was no update on the seriousness of the injury, but it looked like a hamstring problem.

A hamstring injury can take upto two to six weeks to heal. From the Indian team’s point of view, the only consolation is there is enough time for the World Cup to recover.

The selectors will be announcing the names of playing XI for the ICC World Cup 2019 squad on April 15.

The World Cup begins on May 30 and India play their first match on June 5.
