New Delhi : With an aim to get the 2023 ICC World Cup and next year T20I World Cup, BCCI’s All-India Senior Selection Committee committee on Wednesday announced that Rohit Sharma will be leading Team India as the white ball captain. Rohit was also named as India’s Test vice-captain as the selection committee picked an 18-member squad for the upcoming three-match Test series against South Africa.

Virat Kohli will continue to lead Team India in the Test formats. Another blow was for Ajinkya Rahane who has been removed from the post of vice captaincy and it has been given to Rohit Sharma.

Rahane’s recent form has put a question mark over his inclusion in the Indian cricket team’s playing 11. “The All-India Senior Selection Committee also decided to name Mr. Rohit Sharma as the Captain of the ODI & T20I teams going forward,” BCCI said in a statement.

Rohit Sharma's first assignment as Team India's ODI captain will begin next month in South Africa where India is scheduled to play three ODIs.

Recently, Rohit Sharma captained Team India in the short format against New Zealand and interestingly, Team India whitewashed the Kiwis to win the series.
