Sexist comment row: Virat Kohli slams Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul

New Delhi : Ahead of first ODI against Australia, Indian skipper Virat Kohli broke his silence and slammed his teammates Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul for making sexist and misogynistic comments on a TV chat show.

Virat Kohli also made clear that the comments made by the cricketers on the TV are not acceptable, and personal comments are not an ideology of the team. “We as the Indian cricket team and responsible cricketers don’t align with those views, those were individual opinions,” Kohli said at a press conference ahead of the first ODI against Australia in Sydney.

“From the Indian cricket team point of view, any inappropriate comments that are made in that scenario are something that we definitely don’t support and the two concerned players felt what has gone wrong and they have understood the magnitude of what’s happened. Definitely, it has to hit anyone hard, they will definitely understand the things that have not gone right,” the 30-year old added.

Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul had appeared on a chat show – Koffee with Karan – where Pandya boasted about his relationship with multiple women. The BCCI also issued a show cause notice to the cricketers; Hardik Pandya responded to it with an apology.

After winning the Test series, Team India is all set to play 3-match ODI series against Australia.
