New Delhi : India’s batsman Shreyas Iyer suffered a lower back injury during the 4th and the final Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. He did not come to bat on the final day of the game and now Rohit Sharma has given a big update over his health which may lead to his disappearance from the upcoming IPL 2023.

Shreyas Iyer has already been ruled out of the ODI series against Australia that begins later this month. It is likely that he will be missing IPL 2023 as the injury he has occurred is not looking great at the moment. Iyer is the captain for Kolkata Knight Riders franchise in the IPL.

Rohit Sharma called it an unfortunate incident. "He had to wait all day to bat, but when the day got over his back pain recurred and was then later sent to the hospital for taking scans," said Rohit.

Skipper Rohit Sharma also mentioned that the exact scan report is not with him, so he cannot give a clear view on his health, but what it seems like during the incident it was not in a very good shape.

Shreyas Iyer, on the other hand, has himself tweeted that he will be coming back "stronger".

Everyone is wishing that Iyer recovers from the injury soon. But, in case if he gets ruled out of the IPL 2023 then Shakib Al Hasan can take over his leadership duties for the Kolkata Knight Riders. Shakib Allison has recently at Bangladesh to a T 20 series win over England at home.

The upcoming season for Indian Premier League 2023 is scheduled to start from March 31, 2023.
