U 19 World Cup Final: India clinch title, beat Australia by 8 wickets

Oval : India claimed U 19 World Cup trophy for the fourth time after beating Australia by 8 wickets in the final game. 

Australia won the toss and elected to bat first, but was bowled out for 216 in 47.2 overs at Bay Oval, Tauranga. Jonathan Merlo scored highest 76 runs for Australia while four Indian bowlers took 2 wickets each.

India never looked on the backfoot and Manjot Kalra's unbeaten 101 runs handed India a comfortable win by 8 wickets. Lefthander Kalra's 101 came from 102 balls as India achieved the target in just 39th over.

India beat Australia by 100 runs in the tournament opener and was undefeated the rest of the way.

This was the sixth time when India reached the final of U 19 World Cup. Australia had made to the finals for five times and won the tournament three times.
