Bhubaneswar : India showcased a perfect all-round performance to register a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over New Zealand in a match of the World T20 for Visually-Impaired at the KIIT Ground, Tuesday.

Chasing a 137-run target, Orissa star Sukhram Majhi (56 n o, 25b, 11x4) and skipper Ajay Reddy (75 n o, 28b, 14x4) batted brilliantly to fashion an emphatic win for the hosts. This was Sukhram’s second half century after a 60-plus knock against England.

After restricting the visitors to 136 for six, the Indian skipper and coach Patrick Rajkumar, promoted local stars Sukhram and Md Jafar Iqbal at the top of the order. Jafar (0) failed, but Sukhram gave the crowd their money’s worth.

After that, Ajay and Sukhram plundered the Kiwi bowling with Sukhram hitting 18 runs including four boundaries in the second over off RJ Gilmore. The two completed the chase in just nine overs.

Earlier when New Zealand batted, BD Wilson (52 n o, 51b, 4x4) however scored an unbeaten half century to lead his side go past 100-run mark. Jafar (2/19) was the pick of the Indian bowlers.
