New Delhi : Steve Smith and David Warner's good knocks took Australia to a comfortable win over Sri Lanka in the second T20 international at Brisbane; hosts have now taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

Smith, 53 not out of 36 balls, and Warner, 60 not out of 41 balls, stitched together an unbeaten 117-run stand to take the hosts home at the Gabba with 7 overs to spare.

However, during the last overs of the game, Sri Lanka had a great chance of reducing the defeat margin to 8 wickets as spinner Lakshan Sandakan attempted to run Steve Smith out.

Steve Smith was way out of his crease and Sandakan had a golden chance of running him out but ended up making a silly mistake.

According to the cricket rules, player needs to pull the stumps out if bails have already fallen. Sandakan did exactly what should be done but forgot to touch the ball to the wickets and with this Smith survived the chance despite being way outside his crease.

The match though was already lost by then and the Aussies wrapped up the formality to win the series with amatch yet to be played.
