Navi Mumbai : Mumbai Indians has registered a massive 143-run over Gujarat Giants in the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2023 opener match in Navi Mumbai. Reacting on the victory, Harmanpreet Kaur revealed her advice she gave to the team before going on the field.

Sent to bat first, Mumbai Indians posted a massive 207/5 runs in fixed 20 overs. Hayley Matthews (47), Harmanpreet Kaur (65 from 30 balls) and Amelia Kerrโ€™s (45 not out) knocks were among the top hitters for Mumbai. On the other hand, Gujarat Titans collapsed completely and were seen no where fighting to save the game.

Nat Sciver-Brunt, Issy Wong, Kerr and young Saika Ishaque kept on taking wickets at regular intervals and restricted Gujarat Titans total to 64/9 in 15.1 overs. Ishaque was the pick of the bowlers with 4/11.

Speaking at the post match ceremony, Harmanpreet Kaur said, "the game was like a dream start. We kept things simple and clear. Had told players to play their natural game."

She also spoke about her batting performance and said, "I was able to see the ball clearly and back myself. Whatever came my way, I slammed the ball that came my way."

"I think the pitch was a batting pitch and whenever the opposition side was giving a loose ball, we were hitting it well," she added.
