Qatar : Argentina captain and ace footballer Lionel Messi on Wednesday breaks record of his idol Diego Maradona as he struck a goal against Poland. He also assisted the second goal for his team.

Lionel Messi has become Argentina's most capped player in the history of the FIFA World Cup. He achieved the feat when Argentina clashed with Robert Lewandowski-led Poland in Group C encounter.

In the previous game, Messi had leveled the the number of goals with Diego Maradona as his side won the game 2-1. Now, after scoring a goal against Poland, he surpassed the goal tally to create a record. Interestingly, the Argentina captain is the youngest (18 years 357 days against Serbia in 2006) and also the oldest (35 years 155 days against Mexico) player to both score and assist in a single World Cup match since the 1966 World Cup.

On Wednesday, Lionel Messi-led Argentina outclassed Poland 2-0 to keep themselves in the race of Super 16. Earlier, Messi became the fifth player to score a goal in four different World Cup campaigns.

Looks like Lionel Messi has finally arrived back in form.
