Chandigarh : It was a great show by last year’ runners-up Kalinga Lancers to demolish winners Punjab Warriors to seal the semis berth in the fifth edition of the Hockey India League.

Kalinga Lancers have been one of the most consistent teams in the league this season and they continued their good show by getting a lead early in the game.

By the end of first quarter Lancers were 2-0 up in the match. Varun Kumar, scored a field goal in the 9th minute. At the end of the first half visitors were 3-0.

While Jaypee Punjab Warriors couldn’t convert a goal from the seven PCs they earned this quarter.

With a formidable 7-0 lead, Kalinga Lancers looked poised for a win in the final quarter by defending their lead rather diligently.

Though the home team won two PCs this quarter, they couldn’t make much of the opportunity. The home team’s forward SV Sunil converted a field goal in the 56th minute, but a video referral in Kalinga Lancers’ favour denied them the consolation.
