New Delhi : A new season and a new skipper for Kings XI Punjab. Last year, it was South Africa's David Miller in the initial stages and then India's Murali Vijay led the side. But this year it will be the hard hitting Australian Glenn Maxwell.

Kings XI Punjab on Friday announced Glenn Mxwell as the captain of the side for the upcoming 10th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), to be played April 5 to May 21.

"With fireworks in his batting, bowling and fielding it's time to unleash the Captain in him. The King of our Pride this season - @Gmaxi_32!" the franchise confirmed the news on its official Twitter handle.

Kings XI finished at the bottom of the table last season with just four wins from 14 games. South African David Miller started the season as the skipper but was relieved of the leadership role midway.

Kings XI will start their IPL 10 campaign against Rising Pune Supergiants on April 8 in Indore, their second home venue after Mohali.
