New Delhi : Suryakumar Yadav, having already achieved three T20I centuries for India, had been eagerly awaiting his first IPL hundred. However, his recent outstanding form in the second half of the tournament gave a strong indication that it was within reach. This was confirmed when he brilliantly dismantled the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) with a superb knock of 83 earlier in the week at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. His remarkable performance showcased his ability to dominate even the most formidable bowling attacks, as exemplified by his recent blow against the highly regarded Gujarat Titans.

Entering the crease during the seventh over, Suryakumar faced a testing spell from Rashid Khan, who had just dismissed Mumbai Indians' captain Rohit Sharma for 29. Without wasting any time, Suryakumar also sent his opening partner Ishan Kishan (31) back to the pavilion. Within the span of five deliveries, Mumbai Indians went from a comfortable 61/0 to a slightly precarious 66/2. In such a situation, a typical batsman would focus on stabilizing the innings and cautiously dealing with the threat posed by Noor Ahmad and Rashid Khan. However, Suryakumar is far from ordinary. He is a T20 specialist capable of demoralizing bowlers by effectively dispatching even good deliveries, and he consistently bewilders opposition captains with his ability to exploit scoring opportunities from various angles on both sides of the pitch.

When Suryakumar Yadav hits his stride, there's simply no better batsman in the world, particularly when it comes to dominating the crucial middle phase of a game. Even the finest players struggle to maintain the same level of momentum during this period, making Suryakumar's prowess all the more remarkable. And if that weren't enough, he possesses the ability to accelerate even further towards the end of an innings, adding another layer of brilliance to his game.

Following the swift dismissals of the two openers and an early departure by Nehal Wadhera, Suryakumar found a steady flow of runs alongside Vishnu Vinod, who contributed a brisk 30 off 20 balls. However, when Vinod was eventually dismissed, Suryakumar sensed that it was time to shift gears and go into full throttle.

His breathtaking innings of 103 runs off just 49 balls, adorned with 11 boundaries and 6 sixes, was a true masterpiece. It serves as a timely reminder of why he is widely regarded as the best in the business, showcasing his exceptional talent and reaffirming his status as a cricketing maestro.
