IPL 2023: Shubhman Gill' brilliant ton helps Gujarat Titans knock Royal Challengers Bangalore out, Virat Kohli's ton goes in vain
New Delhi : Mumbai Indians have become the fourth team to reach in Indian Premier League playoffs as Gujarat Titans knocked Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final league games. Two brilliant hundreds were seen in the game, one by Virat Kohli and another by Shubman Gill.
Shubman Gill scored an incredible knock of 104 runs in 52 balls that turned out to be the game winning knock for Gujarat Titans. Virat Kohli scored 101 runs in 61 balls to ensure a competitive total for his side.
Virat Kohli started the RCB innings off well by stitching the opening partnership of 50 runs with skipper Faf du Plessis. However, Royal Challengers Bangalore struggled in the middle overs as Gujarat Titans spinners picked up Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell and Mahipal Lomror. Virat then stitched 47-run knock with Michael Bracewell to put things in line. Towards the end of the innings, Virat Kohli paced things up and scored quick 64 runs with Anuj Rawat.
But, it was Gujarat Titans who had the last laugh as they won the game with comfortable inning of Shubman Gill.
With RCB getting knocked out of the tournament, Rohit Sharma's Mumbai Indians has become the last team to qualify for the playoffs.
On Tuesday, GT will face off against Chennai Super Kings, led by MS Dhoni, in Qualifier 1 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
