New Delhi : Track cycling events of Khelo India Youth Games 2025 concluded on a high note at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Delhi. In the contest of speed and stamina, Jharkhand’s girls delivered an outstanding performance to clinch overall championship title, while Rajasthan dominated the boys' category. Bihar’s girls showcased remarkable grit and secured an impressive third place overall.

The closing ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Shri Kundan Kumar (IAS), Resident Commissioner of Government of Bihar, and Shri John Kingsley (IAS), Secretary, Government of Madhya Pradesh. The dignitaries awarded medals and certificates to the winners and extended their congratulations to all participants for their dedication and performances. Shri Kundan Kumar also met with the girls from Bihar’s cycling team, applauding them for bringing pride to the state.

Other prominent attendees included Shri Atul Kumar Singh, IG Stadium Administrator (SAI), Shri Vijay Bhatt, Joint Administrator, Shri Kumar Digvijay, Labour Commissioner and CAO Bihar Bhawan, Shri Shams Afroz, ARC Bihar Bhawan, and Shri Dinesh Kumar, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations.

Bihar Girls Put Up a Strong Fight, Finish Third in Overall Rankings

In the girls’ category, Jharkhand leaded with 16 points, earned through two gold and one bronze medal. A gold in the team sprint event proved crucial, contributing 10 points to their total. Rajasthan followed closely with 15 points from three gold medals, while Bihar secured third place with 10 points—thanks to two silver and one bronze medal. The silver in the team sprint event alone earned Bihar 6 points and played a decisive role in their podium finish.

Rajasthan Dominates Boys’ Overall Rankings

Rajasthan led the boys’ overall standings, winning three gold, one silver, and one bronze medal for a total of 19 points. Jharkhand finished second with 14 points from one gold and two silver medals, bolstered by a critical win in the team sprint event that helped them edge out Maharashtra. Maharashtra settled for third place with 13 points, having won two golds and one silver.

Final Day Highlights: Sabina and Siddhesh Steal the Show in Keirin Events

The final day featured highly anticipated Keirin races, delivering edge-of-the-seat action in both boys' and girls' categories. In the girls' event, Jharkhand’s Sabina Kumari impressed with her speed and control to win gold. Tamil Nadu’s Thabitha S. claimed silver, while her teammate Niraimathi J. took home the bronze. On the boys' side, Maharashtra’s Siddhesh Sarjerao Ghorpade emerged victorious, earning gold, while Jharkhand’s Bikash Auron won silver and Telangana’s R. Tanish Kumar Singh secured the bronze.

According to the organizers, this year’s track cycling events saw record participation from states and athletes, reflecting the growing success and reach of the Khelo India initiative.
