Service tax department summons tennis star Sania Mirza
New Delhi : Tennis star Sania Mirza has been summoned by service tax department for allegedly evading tax on Rs 1 crore received from Telangana government for being the brand ambassador of the youngest state.
In the summon, Sania Mirza has been asked to appear in person or through an authorised agent on Feb 16; she has also been restrained from travelling abroad without official permission.
Sania Mirza had been appointed ‘brand ambassador’ of Telangana by CM K Chandrasekhar Rao on July 22, 2014. She was also rewarded with Rs 1 crore cash prize for winning the US Open.
