Redmi Note 8 price hikes for fifth time, now pay Rs 2500 more than launch price

New Delhi : Redmi has adopted an approach to slowly increase prices of their best-selling smartphones in the Indian market.

Taking a note from a report by 91Mobiles, The company has once again hiked the price of Redmi Note 8 in India. This happens to be the fifth hike in the MSRP of the device in the market. This time out, the phone's price tag has been raised by Rs 500 (US$7), taking its current base price tag to Rs 12,499. The phone launched with an MSRP of Rs 9,999 last year.

Redmi Note 8 is one of the most demanded mobile phone in Indian market due to its features at an unbeatable price tag; but with the five hikes the price of the mobile phone has gone up by 25% from the launch MSRP.

It appears Xiaomi is milking the Redmi Note 8's popularity in the market, and has adopted the strategy of slowly increasing prices in bits. Perhaps there are economic reasons for that, but it's no less hard on new buyers of the phone.
