New Delhi : Xiaomi has been teasing more megapixel cameras coming in their Redmi devices soon, it is no hidden secret that the company is working on it to make an official launch soon. While, it is yet to be announced when will the company launch its smartphone with such powerful cameras, it presented the camera technology at the Xiaomi Future Image Technology Communication Conference in Beijing, China.

During the presentation, the company focused on highlighting the 64MP Samsung ISOCELL GW1 camera sensor. At the end of the event, the company also teased a smartphone coming in with a 108MP camera sensor.

Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi has claimed that it will be first company in the world that will launch the new 64MP Samsung ISOCELL GW1 sensor. This sensor from Samsung packs in 38% more pixels than a 48MP camera, which Xiaomi claims will help users capture brighter, vibrant and more detailed images.

The ISOCELL GW1 sensor is a large 1/1.7″ sensor with a 0.8μm pixel size. Xiaomi’s 64MP Redmi smartphone will come with camera features such as ISOCELL Plus for improved color reproduction, Smart ISO and Hybrid 3D HDR. Images captured with this new camera have a resolution of 9248 x 6936, and the size of each photo can reach a whopping 19MB.

As per speculations, the new technology will make way to Redmi device during the fourth quarter of 2019 when the company will launch its new smartphones in the market. Collating this information with previously available info, this smartphone will likely come with a quad camera setup as well.

While, the event was primarily focused on the 64MP camera sensor, the company also teased an upcoming Mi series smartphone which will be the first device with a 108MP sensor from Samsung. This sensor produces images with a whopping resolution of 12,032 x 9,024 pixels.
