Delhi : Airtel, one of India's leading telecom operators, has quietly added a new prepaid recharge plan to its offerings. This latest plan includes a data voucher that provides users with 6GB of internet data, catering to those who require a quick recharge of their data after surpassing their daily limit. Interestingly, Airtel's introduction of this plan closely follows the launch of a similar data voucher by Vodafone Idea.

Details of Airtel's Rs 49 Prepaid Plan

The newly introduced prepaid plan by Airtel grants users 6GB of bundled data for a duration of 1 day. According to reports from Telecom Talk, this data voucher is not a standalone plan, meaning that users must have an active base plan to enjoy its benefits. The plan is designed specifically for individuals who need extra data for a specific period, especially when they find themselves in areas without WiFi access.

For users seeking a similar plan with an extended validity, they can consider Airtel's Rs 58 data plan. This prepaid voucher offers 3GB of data that remains valid until the existing base plan expires. Alternatively, users requiring more data and a longer validity period can opt for Airtel's Rs 98 plan. Alongside 5GB of data, this plan also includes the added advantage of Wynk Music premium subscription.

Airtel's Advancements in 5G Deployment

Meanwhile, Airtel is actively working on deploying its 5G network throughout the country. Currently, the telecom operator offers 5G NSA (non-standalone network) coverage in over 3000 cities and towns in India. Their goal is to expand this coverage to significant cities and towns by December 2023. Airtel users with 5G-enabled smartphones can enjoy unlimited Airtel 5G data on their existing plans priced at Rs 239 and above.

To activate Airtel's 5G network, users can visit the Airtel Thanks app and claim the 5G data offer. To connect to the available 5G network, users need to access their device settings, go to Cellular Network, locate the Airtel SIM, and enable the 5G network option.

Jio's Progress in 5G Deployment

In a parallel effort, Jio is also deploying its standalone 5G network in significant cities and towns. Jio is providing free 5G data to users with an active base plan priced at Rs 239 and above. However, if Jio users have a plan below Rs 239, they can obtain access to the available 5G network by recharging with a data pack priced at Rs 61.
