Delhi : Stickers and GIFs are two ways that WhatsApp users can add fun to their messaging. Users are still reliant on third-party apps for stickers, despite the platform's built-in ability to let users make their own amusing GIFs. But, WhatsApp has now acknowledged the issue and added a feature allowing users to design amusing customised stickers.

A new version to WhatsApp has reportedly been published that will let users to make their own customised stickers using images stored in their device's gallery, according to Wabetainfo, a website that tracks the platform's most recent improvements. Only iPhone owners who have updated to iOS 16 or higher, though, can download the new update.

According to the source, WhatsApp for iPhone version 23.3.77 has quietly provided the ability for iOS users to create personalised stickers. Users can acquire the update by downloading the most recent version of WhatsApp from the Apple App Store if they have iOS 16 or higher installed. Once upgraded, iPhone users won't need any other apps to quickly turn their gallery photographs into WhatsApp stickers.

But there's a problem. Similar to Gifs, making stickers is not an easy procedure, and there is no specific mechanism for doing so. Instead, WhatsApp is utilising an iOS 16 API feature that enables users to long-press and drag-and-drop actions to remove a subject from an image. Users may create stickers for any WhatsApp chat by using the tool to split the topic of their images and then dragging it into the message.

Here's how to make your own customised iPhone stickers.

On an iPhone, how to make WhatsApp stickers

Using the drag and drop and background-removal options in WhatsApp for iPhone, perform the following actions to generate personalised stickers:

  • On your iPhone, launch the Pictures app.
  • Next, choose a photo and hold down the long-press key to isolate the foreground from the backdrop.
  • Add the subject by dragging it into any WhatsApp chat.
  • It should be noted that in order to drag and drop, you must have WhatsApp open in the background while using the Pictures app on your iPhone.
  • The platform will prompt you to turn the subject into a sticker once you drag and drop the image in a WhatsApp message.
  • After the sticker is generated, it will also be added to your library of WhatsApp stickers. The same stickers can then be used in different talks.

Keep in mind that only iPhone users running iOS 16 or higher currently have access to this feature. If you are able to utilise the functionality, be patient. WhatsApp will release upgrades for all iPhone users using iOS 16 or higher in the coming weeks.
