Delhi : Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet and Google, has stated that the business will soon produce more capable AI models in response to criticism of his ChatGPT rival, Bard.

On March 21, Bard was made available to the general public, but it was not as well received as OpenAI's ChatGPT and Microsoft's Bing chatbot.

"Clearly, our models are more effective. Bard will soon be upgraded to one of our more powerful Pathways Language Model (PaLM) models, which will give it greater skills in terms of reasoning, coding, and being able to respond to maths problems more accurately "Pichai stated on the Hard Fork podcast of The New York Times.

Thus, Pichai continued, "You will witness development over the course of next week." Pichai claimed that Google's culture of caution played a role in Bard's restricted functionality.

He was reported in the article as saying, "To me, it was crucial to not put out a more competent model before we can fully ensure we can handle it well. Pichai said that he had discussed the project with Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the co-founders of Google.

In addition, he expressed worry that the current pace of AI growth "poses a threat to society." No one has all the answers, therefore there will need to be a lot of discussion, according to Pichai.

Google has refuted claims that it used OpenAI's ChatGPT, which is owned by Microsoft, to train Bard, its AI chatbot.

According to a report in The Information, the two AI research teams at Google's parent company, Alphabet, had been fiercely competing for years before being driven by OpenAI's success to collaborate.

The article cites sources as saying that personnel at DeepMind, an Alphabet subsidiary firm, are collaborating with software engineers at Google's Brain AI branch to create software that will compete with OpenAI.

The Verge was informed by a Google representative that "Bard is not trained on any data from ShareGPT or ChatGPT."

Bard is based on a large language model (LLM), especially a lightweight and optimised version of LaMDA, which the tech giant stated will be updated with newer, more competent models in the future. It is similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT and Microsoft's Bing chatbot.
