Delhi : In Docs that are set to paged mode, Google has included a new function that automatically shows line numbers. We're adding the option to display line numbers within Docs that are set to paged mode, in addition to previous updates that give you more control over formatting in Google Docs, such as viewing non-printing characters and improvements to content organization, the tech giant said in a Workspace Updates blogpost on Monday.

The numbers, which can be customized for the entire document, a page, or a particular area, are automatically calculated next to each line in the document. Additionally, while printing, these numbers are maintained. When working together on lengthy or complex content, this feature makes it simpler for users to refer to certain content positions in documents.

All users of Google Workspace and those with personal Google Accounts are currently receiving the new feature. Additionally, the alternative lacks admin control, according to the provider. In the 'Image choices' sidebar of Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drawings, the tech juggernaut had previously revealed adding the 'Alt text' option.

The company had earlier this month declared that it was redesigning the "first open experience" in Docs on Android gadgets. The new version of the Docs app launches in edit mode.

Google stated in June that "paginated mode"—which sets up the Google Doc with pages and page breaks in the app, enabling a more consistent visual design between the web and mobile—would become the default setting on Docs for Android.
