Jio unveils Jio Meet to compete against Zoom, Google Meet

New Delhi : Jio is now expanding its wings in the video conferencing arena as the company unveiled its native platform JioMeet. Jio parent Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) revealed its plans to launch the JioMeet platform while announcing its quarterly earnings for the fourth quarter on Thursday.

The new video conferencing platform will be competing against the market leaders like Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and more. The video conferencing applications have received the boost amid the coronavirus pandemic lockdown across the globe.

However, JioMeet won't be entirely new as Jio attempted to bring a similar video conferencing solution in the past as well.

Interestingly, JioMeet will be accessible on the Outlook via a plugin and even via Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, reports Hindustan Times.

The company has also claimed that the end users will be getting an HD quality streaming on the platform. Furthermore, users will be able to log in using email ID and password or join a video conference as a guest.

RIL hasn't provided any clarity on the rollout of the JioMeet. Nevertheless, if the past is any indication, JioMeet will likely be provided to select users first, and then will reach the masses at a later stage.
