Delhi : The Meta Quest 3 mixed reality headset was unveiled on Thursday by Meta Quest. Compared to the Meta Quest 2, the next-generation device's improved Snapdragon processor should deliver twice as much visual performance. TruTouch haptics from the Meta Quest Pro are supported, and the headset has revised Touch Plus controls that do away with the requirement for outside tracking rings.

It's interesting that Apple's first mixed reality headset, the Apple Reality Pro, is expected to debut just days after this sophisticated headgear is released.

The CPU and GPU performance of the Quest 2 and Quest Pro headsets will be improved thanks to an upcoming software upgrade, according to Meta. Additionally, these devices will feature dynamic resolution scaling, allowing for greater pixel densities without sacrificing frame rates. Along with their future Quest 3 headset, Meta intends to sell the Quest 2 and Quest Pro.

Meta Quest 3: Price

The Meta Quest 3's 128GB variant costs $499.99, or around Rs. 41,200. The headset is slated for delivery in the autumn, and Meta is expected to announce details on pre-orders and sale dates during its annual Meta Conference, which starts on September 27th.

In the meantime, Meta has disclosed a price drop for the Quest 2 VR headset of the current generation. Returning to its prior pricing point, the headset will be offered starting June 4th for a suggested retail price of $299.99 (about Rs. 24,700). Nearly a year has passed since the headset's price was raised by $100 (or around Rs. 8,200) in July 2022.

Meta Quest 3: Specifications

Important information about the specs of Meta's new headset has been made public. A cutting-edge Snapdragon processor, most likely the Snapdragon XR3 chip, is installed in the gadget. The business claims that this chipset offers more than twice the visual capability of the Snapdragon XR2 processor, which powers the Quest 2 headset. The Quest 3 will have pancake optics, the highest quality display Meta has ever provided, and smooth performance to provide players a more immersive gaming experience.

The Quest 3 headset, which was just introduced by Meta, differs from the Quest 2 in that it features updated Touch Plus controllers that do away with the need for outside tracking rings. According to Meta, the Quest 3 features built-in support for Direct Touch and hand tracking by default. TruTouch haptics, a feature first seen on the Meta Quest Touch Pro controllers, is also a part of the newly created controllers. These controllers may also be purchased individually and work with the Quest 3 headset.

When compared to the Quest 2 headset, the Quest 3 sports a 40% smaller optic profile (excluding the foam facial interface). The device's front is fitted with a number of sensors, however they do not provide sophisticated face-tracking functions. The recently released mixed reality headset is made to work with Meta's sizable game library, which includes 500 VR applications and games that are now offered for the Meta Quest 2 and Quest Pro.
