Delhi : Globally, Android and iOS mobile devices now support client-side encryption in Gmail thanks to tech giant Google.

Users of Android and iOS business smartphones may now read and compose encrypted messages straight from their devices after client-side encryption for Gmail on the web was made available earlier this year. Customers of Google Workspace Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, and Education Standard have access to this service.

This enables your users to work with your most sensitive data while observing compliance and regulatory standards from anywhere on their mobile devices," the business stated in an update late on Friday.

Users do not need to download additional apps or go to an external domain in order to view their encrypted messages because the Gmail mobile apps natively handle encrypted mail. Client-side encryption, according to the tech giant, "ensures that you have sole control over encryption keys and access to your data, even though Workspace encrypts data at rest and in transit using secure-by-design cryptographic libraries."

Client-side encryption guarantees that "sensitive data in the email body and attachments are indecipherable to Google servers" and that you maintain control over the identity service used to obtain the encryption keys.

Click the lock symbol, choose extra encryption, then compose your message and add attachments as usual to add client-side encryption to any messages.
