Delhi : Xiaomi is preparing to introduce its new Redmi A2 series smartphones in India next week. The new entry-level phones, the Redmi A2 and the Redmi A2+, will be available in the nation on May 19. The phones will be available for purchase online in India shortly after their release.

Both the Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ phones are expected to be priced under Rs 8,000. The Redmi A2 series will also have a leather-like rear finish. The Redmi A2 series was released in March of this year. The Redmi A2 series will be available in India with the identical characteristics as its worldwide counterparts.

The Redmi A2 series, according to sources, would include a water-drop notch display and a 6.52-inch HD+ resolution screen with a 60Hz refresh rate. Both variants will include an 8MP dual-rear camera system as well as a 5MP front-facing camera. The Redmi A2+ will have a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, which the standard A2 does not have.

The phones are powered by a MediaTek Helio G36 processor, which is an advance over the Helio A22 SoC used in the predecessor. The phones will be equipped with a 5,000mAh battery and 10W charging capabilities. They will ship with the MIUI skin on top of Android 12 Go Edition.

These phones include a variety of connectivity choices, including Dual-SIM, 4G, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, a 3.5mm audio connector, and a USB type-C charging port. The phones are small and light, measuring 164.9 76.75 9.09mm and weighing 192 grammes.

While the Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ have identical features, the latter has a fingerprint reader for secure biometric verification.
