Delhi : It appears that Samsung wants its flagship phones to stay in the premium segment despite rumors that it may release more cheap phones in 2024. There have been rumors that Samsung may release affordable foldable cellphones in 2024. The anticipated pricing range for these phones was $400 to $500, which is comparable to the costs of mid-level Galaxy A series smartphones. Samsung has lately refuted these reports, though.

Samsung has no intentions to produce foldable phones in the mid-range pricing bracket, an official from the company told Korea JoongAng Daily. They declared that there was no truth to the rumors. In addition, there have been rumors that the Galaxy Z FE (Fan Edition), a purportedly less expensive Galaxy Z foldable phone, will be released subsequent to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. The spokeswoman clarified, though, that no decisions have been taken in this area. According to earlier rumors, Samsung planned to release more reasonably priced foldable phones in 2024. TrendForce's market study revealed Samsung's plan to reduce costs in order to remove obstacles and increase the accessibility of foldable phones. These phones may even cost as little as $400 to $500, according to certain reports.

Although early rumors suggested that Samsung was working on more reasonably priced foldable phones, the company's most recent denial raises the possibility that these mid-range models won't be available anytime soon. Their current range of high-end foldable devices is still the main emphasis.

Samsung's foldable flagship Galaxy Z phones are now available in five different configurations. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 were just released. However, these are not inexpensive equipment. Starting at $999 (about Rs. 82,000), the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is priced at $999, while the Galaxy Z Fold 5 starts at $1,799 (roughly Rs. 1,47,000). The base model of the Galaxy Z Fold 5, which has 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, starts at Rs. 1,54,999 in India, while the Galaxy Z Flip 5 variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage starts at Rs. 99,999. Both phones come equipped with a new Flex Hinge and run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy. They have an IPX8 water resistance rating and operate on One UI 5.1.1, which is based on Android 13.
