Delhi : Sony unveiled the ZV-E1 vlogging camera today. This new model, which is the first to have a full-frame sensor, is at the top of the company's ZV series.

The ZV-E1 has the same high-quality 12MP full-frame sensor as the A7S III and FX3, which offers exceptional low light performance and a dynamic range of more than 15 stops. The BIONZ XR image processor from those two other cameras is combined with this, which should result in approximately identical image quality.

In comparison to the A7S III and FX3, the ZV-E1 makes some compromises. With 4:2:2 and 10-bit, it can presently only output 4K 60 frames per second; 4K 120 frames per second are planned for a future upgrade.

Moreover, it lacks the other two cameras' thorough heat control. There is only one SD card slot, and the HDMI port is a small one.

The ZV-E1 has a few benefits as a beginner-focused camera for vlogging. It has a specialised zoom ring around the shutter, a smaller and lighter size, and controls to quickly change the depth of field and focus. Moreover, there is a new Cinemascope aspect ratio that automatically converts a 16:9 frame into a 21:9 image by adding black bars around it.

Also, the ZV-E1 includes the newest software from Sony, including AI human identification, which enables capabilities like Multiple Face Recognition, which modifies the aperture to allow two persons to be in focus.

When the subject moves, the camera automatically frames the shot to keep it in the frame. Framing Stabilizer and Auto Microphone Directivity are used to recognise moving spoken subjects.

The A7R V's enhanced Real-time Recognition AF can recognise objects including people, animals, birds, insects, vehicles and trains, and aeroplanes. While racking focus on lenses with heavy breathing, breathing compensation keeps the field of view constant.

Moreover, Sony's new Dynamic Active Mode stabilisation, which is 30% more effective than the previous Active Mode at minimising camera shake in video, is included with the ZV-E1.

In comparison to the A7S III or the FX3, the ZV-E1 offers roughly the same level of performance and usefulness for $2199 body-only or $2499 with a 28-60 mm F4.5-5.6 zoom lens. It also adds a few additional capabilities of its own, making it a much better solution for beginning photographers.
