New Delhi : On social media, a message is going viral about how a mobile phone can be repaired if it was accidentally slipped into the water. They say, putting the drenched device in a box filled with rice would repair it in no time. Let's find out if this is a rumour or a true fact.

Gazelle.com did the experiment on a drenched mobile phone with seven different items including rice, silica gel and others.

During the experiment it was found that rice took the longest time to soak water as compared to others.

Another study on the same claim said that putting device in open air is more beneficial than putting it in the rice box.

Side effects of putting mobile in rice box

While they say it will repair your smartphone, let us warn you that it may damage your device; the rice contains starch in its dust which makes it sticky. When you put mobile into the rice box it sticks with your mobile and may damage it severely.
