Delhi : In its most recent version for Android, Meta-owned WhatsApp has made the "companion mode" functionality available to all beta testers. In the past only a small number of beta testers had access to the companion mode, according to WABetaInfo.

This function, which is an expansion of multi-device functionality, was created to enable users to link their current WhatsApp accounts to additional mobile devices.

According to the article, users who link their current WhatsApp account to a second smartphone can now view their chats on the second device without requiring an active internet connection on their primary phone.

The communication history of users who link their WhatsApp accounts to new smartphones will sync between all of those devices.

Even though the companion mode is now accessible to all beta testers, the article noted that key capabilities, such the capacity to control broadcast lists and publish a status update from the connected device, might not yet be functional.

Whatsapp has, in the meantime, added a new function called "manage contacts within the app" that enables Android users to add and modify contacts without leaving the app.

Some beta testers using the most recent beta version of WhatsApp for Android now have access to the ability to add and edit contacts, and it will soon be made accessible to even more people.
