Delhi : The long-awaited WhatsApp functionality is now available. The CEO and creator of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, shared the most exciting news for WhatsApp users on Monday on Facebook. Now within 15 minutes after sending, the messaging platform's billions of users will be able to amend their messages.

You may now update your WhatsApp messages up to 15 minutes after they're delivered, according to Zuckerberg, who posted an image of the change. The tech leader provided a sample snapshot in his article where he was able to replace "Beast of luck!" with "Best of luck!" Zuck's hairy dog goes by the moniker of Beast.

The announcement was also revealed on the platform's official Twitter account, which is owned by Meta. It is now! Message editing is currently being implemented. You may now change a message for up to 15 minutes after sending it. So if you duck it up, you won't need to worry, the message said, accompanied with a little edit-enabling video.

The edit tool has been rolled out to users internationally and will be usable in the upcoming weeks, according to the WhatsApp blog post. Users may now correct spelling errors in their communications thanks to this long-overdue functionality. You may now modify messages you've already sent if you make a mistake or simply change your mind. Your communications and any revisions you make are secured by end-to-end encryption, just like all private calls, media, and messages are, according to a blog post from the instant messaging service.

How to edit sent messages?

  • Long-press a sent message to read it.
  • 'Edit' will appear in the drop-down menu.
  • Observe the magic.

Additionally, messages must be edited within 15 minutes of sending them.

An "edited" tag will be shown next to messages that have been modified. While this will inform the recipient that modifications have been made, it will hide the edit history from them. Users may already modify messages on rival apps like Telegram and Signal, but Twitter just made the feature available to some users last year. The 'Chat Lock' function, which WhatsApp launched last week, enables users to conceal their private discussions.

When a chat is locked, the thread is removed from the inbox and placed in a secure folder that can only be opened with the device password or a biometric, such as a fingerprint. Additionally, it immediately conceals that chat's contents from alerts, according to a statement from WhatsApp. By touching the name of a group or one-to-one conversation and choosing the lock option, a chat may be locked.
