WhatsApp rolls out new picture-in-picture feature for all android users

New Delhi : It’s been a few days that WhatsApp has introduced new group video call button for iPhone users. Now, the company has quietly announced the arrival of much-awaited picture-in-picture (PiP) feature for Android users too.

The PiP the feature has been in beta mode for more than two months. It was first spotted in October for WhatsApp beta users. The PiP mode is reported to be coming to the users via the Play Store with WhatsApp stable version 2.18.380. While the new button for group video call was rolled out with WhatsApp stable version 2.18.380.

With the PiP feature, WhatsApp Android users can view videos even when scrolling through the chat windows. As of now, it is available for videos from YouTube, Facebook and Instagram only. Interestingly, the feature gets activated as soon as one sends or receives a link from social media platforms. Once the link is tapped, the video will automatically start playing in the picture-in-picture mode, without asking the user to leave the on-going chat.

Besides, WhatsApp has introduces many more features like dark mode, sharing contact via QR code, multi-shares file and more. The dark mode feature for both Android and iOS WhatsApp users will be similar to that of other platforms like YouTube, Google Maps, Twitter.
