Xiaomi CEO posts on social media using an iPhone

New Delhi : Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun was recently left red-faced when one of his recent tweets on the social media mentioned that it has been done via an Apple iPhone. People were quick to grab attention on the little detail and slam him for not using a mobile phone of his own company. Debates on how the iPhone is still the best device in the market started to float in the comments.

Lei Jun tried to diffuse the raging fire by deleting the tweet but it was too late and people had taken screen shots of his post.

Chinese website Toutiao spotted Jun posting about asking fans to spend on buying books. While the post was mundane at best, the interesting bit was in the fine print. Weibo generally puts the name of the phone from which the post has been generated, and this time, that disclaimer showed an iPhone model for Jun's latest book post.

While many users slammed the CEO for not believing in his own company, some came to his defence and looked at it objectively.

Partner of Xiaomi Industry Investment Department, Pan Jiutang claimed that the companies use other smartphones to keep a check on the technology others are using to improve their own products and any owner of a mobile phone company who claims that they haven't used phones from Apple or Samsung are being hypocritical.

This is not the first time a CEO has been caught using other company's smartphone. Huawei's founder and CEO, Ren Zhengfei, publicly praised the iPhone ecosystem and revealed that he buys iPhone models for his family members when they are abroad.
