3 children dies in US drone strike in Afghanistan: Report
New Delhi : Three children have been reported dead in a drone strike carried out by the US military in Afghanistan, in which they claimed to have killed a suicide bomber preparing an attack on the Kabul airport, said the Associated Press reported citing an Afghan official.
The AP mentioned that the official spoke on the condition of anonymity due to security reasons.
According to officials, a US drone strike blew up a vehicle carrying “multiple suicide bombers” from Afghanistan's Islamic State affiliate before they could reach the Kabul airport. This is the second air strike done by the US military to prevent suicide bombing.
The first drone strike was done to kill the key planner of Kabul airport suicide bombing, in which 13 US troops and more than 100 people were killed.
Two US military officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss military operations, called the airstrike successful and said the vehicle carried multiple bombers.
The evacuation drive in Afghanistan is in the last phase as America is bound to complete the pull out drive by August 31.
US President Joe Biden vowed to keep up the airstrikes, saying on Saturday that another attack was “highly likely” as the state department called the threat “specific” and “credible.”
