London : Prince Philip has been admitted to the hospital, Buckingham Palace informed on Wednesday.

He has been taken to the hospital on an advice of doctors on Tuesday evening, the palace said.

"The Duke’s admission is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness’s Doctor, after feeling unwell.

"The Duke is expected to remain in hospital for a few days of observation and rest."

99-year-old Prince Philip has been admitted to the King Edward VII Hospital in London.

Earlier this year, both the queen and prince were given their first dose of coronavirus vaccine. He will turn 100 in June this year.

He had been living in Windsor Castle for several months, following a brief stay in his usual home at Wood Farm in Sandringham last summer.

He retired from royal duties in 2017 at the age of 95, and moved to Norfolk where he keeps up with his patronages and paints.
