New Delhi : Joe Biden on Wednesday announced that all adults in the United States will be eligible to get coronavirus vaccine within two weeks.

Addressing press from the White House, Joe Biden said that he is moving up the deadline for all over 18 to be eligible for vaccines to April 19. The previous target was May 1.

"Our vaccine program is in overdrive. We're making it easier to get a vaccination shot," Biden told the nation. "We're the first country to administer 150 million shots and the first country to fully vaccinate over 62 million people."

While adults will become eligible after two weeks, but this does not mean that anyone can get vaccine anytime. There will be a complete schedule and process of vaccination which will be followed.

Visiting a vaccination site in Virginia earlier, Biden said that while the worst of the pandemic is "not over yet," vaccines mean it soon could be.

"Get one quickly. That's how we're going to beat this," he said.

Meanwhile, California has pledged to reopen all businesses by June 15 with the current rate of vaccination. "We are announcing today that on June 15... we'll be getting rid of the blueprint, as you know it today. That's on June 15 if we continue the good work," said Newsom, adding that mask-wearing requirements would remain.
