New Delhi : A low intensity blast has been reported near Israel embassy in Central Delhi on Tuesday evening. Following which security has been increased in the region.

According to media reports, a letter has been recovered from the blast site that was marked to Israeli ambassador, mentioning about revenge and retaliation.

"It had phrases like resistance to Zionists and references to Palestine and Gaza," said a senior cop.

An official statement has also been released from the embassy on the matter. "This is to confirm a low intensity blast in close proximity to Israel embassy. Delhi Police and authorities are investigating the matter."

The low-intensity blast came a day after the assassination of Brigadier General Sayyed Razi Mousavi, a senior functionary of Iran's Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) in Damascus but police here didn't draw a correlation between the two. Mousavi was a close aide of Qassem Soleimani, the head of the guards' elite Quds Force, who was killed in a US drone attack in Iraq in 2020.

As per preliminary investigation, no IED has been seized from the blast location and it is suspected that it was a chemical blast.

Meanwhile, no casualties have been reported in the matter. The Israel has issued an alert for its residents in India to stay vigilant amid possible terror attack in coming days.
