Both countries must look into the differences correctly: XI Jinping
New Delhi : Hours after concluding the informal summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mahabalipuram, China's President Xi Jinping said that both India and China must look into the differences correctly and should not dilute the overall cooperation.
He also mentioned that the dance of the dragon and elephant is the only ‘correct choice’ for both sides. “We should carefully handle issues concerning each other’s core interests. We should properly manage and control problems that cannot be solved for the time being,” Xi was quoted as saying by Xinhua news agency.
According to China's state-run Xinhua news agency, the two leaders had a candid and in-depth exchange of views on China-India relations.
Mentioning that both the countries must check the differences in the correct manner, he said both the countries should seek understanding through communication to resolve differences.
“Differences between the two countries should be viewed in a correct way. We should not let them dilute the overall interests of bilateral cooperation. At the same time, we should seek understanding through communication and constantly resolve differences,” Xi said.
“Both countries should carry out strategic communication in a timely and effective manner, enhance mutual understanding and cooperation, and firmly grasp the general direction of the development of bilateral relations,” he added.
After concluding India visit, Xi went to Kathmandu for a two-day visit.
